Overview
Overview:
  1. Product duration: April 15 2023, to April 31, 2023

  2. Problem: Customers are experiencing long lines at the concession stand. Currently there isn’t a way for customers to order their snacks ahead of time.

  3. The Goal: The goal is to create an app for customers who go to the Top flight theaters to allow them to order their snacks ahead of time to by pass the long concession lines.

  4. My Role: UX designer and UX researcher.

  5. Responsibilities: User research, wireframing, and prototyping.

Research
Research:
I conducted competitive audits on other movie theater websites, took note of the services they offered movie goers who used their app. After my research I determined it is not uncommon for movie theaters to allow users to order snacks, food, and tickets online.
How would allowing users to order snack ahead of time help with the lines at the concession stands?
Creating an mobile app that allowed users would reduce the need for movies goers to wait in line for their snacks and drinks. Users would be able to just walk to the online pick up area in the theater, grab their items, and enjoy their movie.

The Design
The Design
To begin the design of the app I started with paper wireframes, created different versions of the homepage, ultimately selecting what I like to most and combined them to create the final version of the app.

I then proceeded to create the digital wire frame of the homepage and the other pages of the app in figma I then connected all of the pages, creating the lo-fi prototype of the app.

After receiving feedback from other participants in the certificate program and conducting a moderated usability study with family and friends, I took in the feedback and made the updates to the hi-fi prototypes. Conducting one more usability study, then tooks those findings to create the mock ups for the app.

Takeaways
Takeaways
I learned that creating an app isn’t a simple process. You must consider how it help users all across the board, not just a specific group. You can fall in love with a color or certain design, but if it creates issues with the usability or accessibility of the app, you must change it. I also learned how to take the criticism, I learned this is a part of the process of creating a good experience for the user.
