Hello, I'm Emeka Echezona

Discovery has always played a humongous role in my professional life. No matter what job I worked, I always learned to work as a team with my co-workers to help achieve the company goals. One of my most impactful experiences was during the pandemic for my current position in HR. We had transitioned to a new timekeeping system. We took classes as a team to learn the system because it was us, Human Resources, who was going to teach other departments how to navigate it. We each hosted presentations to show the new users what the system looked like and how to use it. We kept track of the questions we couldn’t answer, took time to research it, and did our best to give a concrete answer. Even after launch there was an onslaught of questions and pain points users had that we weren’t prepared for. As a team we worked together answer all the questions, create solutions for the pain points, and improved the over all experience of the users while using the system. This was my first introduction into putting the user first before I even knew what a UX designer was.

It was while talking with a friend about wanting to do something different he mentioned Google certificate programs. I took at the different certificates and it was the one for UX design that resonated the most. I took the first part of the course and I discovered a new passion. I was drawn to the problem solving and creativity for the sake of better the experience for the user and the rest has been history! Since the course I have been continue to improved my knowledge and skills everyday because there is so much to learn and I’m eager to soak it all it.

I’m a father, a life long laker fan, who enjoys watching movies in his free time. Actions movies and comedies are my jam, I also really love the Marvel Cinematic Universe, makes me feel like a kid when I see my favorites super hero’s on the big screen. I’m always down for a laugh because a life without laughter isn’t worth living.
